Vote over at TWC and you can see a preview of part of the Chapter 8 cover, which is great and I'm very happy with it :D Helllllooooo we made it to the end of Chapter 7! WHAAAAAT that's crazy. And it clocks in at ONE PAGE more than Chapter 6. I thought it'd be shorter, but here we are. For everyone who was thinking Malaya was going to come on the scene and save Sara from Connie's evil plant life, I'm afraid we don't have time for that much action this late in the game, but I promise we're leading up to bigger and better things :). Unlike the average action movie, I like the make sure that when a throw down occurs, the impact is felt for awhile! So my preference is mini werewolf action sequences that lead up to big werewolf action sequences (see most of Chapter 6). WHAT DOES THIS PAGE MEEEEAAAAN? I don't know, don't worry about it. Something something, Malaya was bitten by Elias's grandma, something something, creepy house, something something. The rest of the pieces will be put together by Charlene in the next chapter, even if that explanation in my current draft just says "PUT SOMETHING HERE." I know what that something part is, but I have to sit down and actually write out all of Connie's stuff, and I have to make sure it's fucked up enough. I have to be in the right headspace for that, so I keep filling in the parts around it like a wuss. I don't have much else to say today, because I've been spending all my damn time trying to get these pages done as well as the chapter 8 cover. There will be an update on Thursday with the first page of Chapter 8, by the way! So don't show up on just Tues/Weds like normal. You gotta come back one more time. In TV news, I started watching Star Trek Discovery, which I'm almost done with the currently available episodes. It's very good! It's also very dark. I guess I wasn't expecting that. There are some bits I'd still like answered, like how the technology in this era seems so beyond the technology of the Original Series, even though this show takes place before the Kirk and Spock era. I imagine, like most of Star Trek, everything can be chalked up to "we'd like to write an entertaining show without feeling constrained by the timeline that's currently in place." I can understand that, I guess. Voyager will still always be my favorite Star Trek. It's such a nice mix of "everything is fucked up for us" and "we're going to get through this and stay optimistic". And also I have a lot of feelings about Janeway stripped down to a tank top and blasting evil floating cloud monsters off her ship with the ship's entire arsenal strapped to her back, so maybe there's my bias. Who knows!
