If you're like, damn, why is that squirrel so dark? It's a Michigan black squirrel! I love them. They aren't only in Michigan, but they have quite a few. I think I've seen them in Indiana near the border with Michigan a couple times? But we really don't have them here to the same degree at all. Maybe they'll migrate over, like the armadillo.

I realized I haven't had much time for Marcus to express himself in this story, but he and Tim were kind of the perfect pair for this scene, so that made me happy. Harvey and Marcus trade off kind of keeping track of Tim, but I think Marcus would grow somewhat frustrated about it sooner than Harvey would. (She finds Tim comforting, like a weird dog.) The reality of Tim is that this is about as far as he'll get. He can speak enough to get by, but he's still mostly a wolf at the end of the day who's sometimes human.

I think the site issues have cleared up, so we're good! Go reread all 1000+ pages while the bandwidth is playing nice lol. Since I've been posting on Webtoon, I've been rereading early chapters while preparing the pages, and even I sometimes forget that Malaya has come really far in being a leader for her pack and getting past her anxiety. I think she thrives in being able to take care of people (within reason! don't be a people pleaser!), and having her pack gradually become more cohesive has given her space to figure out her role as a leader and grow more comfortable with her personal power (that's not just being a giant wolf person).

In the version I posted on Patreon, I put that Crescent Lake is in Sara's territory, but some people pointed out that it was technically not claimed, so I changed the wording a bit. (This is why posting stuff early to Patreon helps me out a lot, tbh.) The idea is that Sara had a whole pack of werewolves running around in an area that she would have been responsible for at least knowing about, which could potentially downgrade her standing with the werewolf council. Not gonna lie, I wasn't sure how I could justify all these werewolves suddenly having papers again, but I figured there would be werewolves in every aspect of society in some aspect or another, and it's my werewolf fantasy story, so now I'm involving the government for good measure lol. Marin has her background in law, which was a decision I made early on, because I know how useful it is to know a lawyer, and I figured werewolves would also benefit from robust legal protection in some way or another. Lo and behold, her being a lawyer has come in handy multiple times lol.

I wasn't totally sure what to do with all the creepy house werewolves after Connie was gone, but they've been really useful in giving the story direction in between the big plot moments. They've all sort of been removed from society, but resourceful enough to catch up at a decent pace. (Minus Tim, who's living his best life just vibing, for the most part, and will probably always be too werewolfy to join human society convincingly.) The biggest issues facing literally all of Malaya's pack at the moment are the growing pains of not having enough space for everyone. Ginger, Aubrey, and Elias are all crashing at Marin and Marisa's house, which isn't a long term solution for anyone. Marcus, Harvey, Tim and Casey are living in the woods behind Malaya's house. So like, everyone needs a space to themselves, basically. Maybe in a big, musty building!

I've been trying to cut some corners and make this comic a little easier on myself, which is why I set this scene in the coffee shop with lots of extra tables and weird angles and shit ;_;. It worked out okay, because I also don't really have to draw anyone's feet, so that does save some time. Rob Liefeld, I'm so sorry I judged you, man. 

Casey has turned out to be a fun character to throw into this mix, because she's still getting her life together, but she's got a head start over the creepy house wolves in that she does exist legally and she's had real life experience up until living in the woods with Tom's pack.
